new member 65 4x4

Post by HurricaneBilly on Sat Jan 10, 2015 12:39 am

Okay , I have been reading post and how do stuff on here for weeks . what a great site .
So this is my second gen 1 Chevy Van . the first one I owned 20 years ago . sold it bought it back sold , trade a jeep for it , and sold it again. And aslong the way had an old DodgeA100 .
So now I am the proud owner of this sweet 1965 . 350/350 4x4 .
Just install a S10 door seal to the motor box tonight . Great fit better than factory seal . learned it from this great site .
Looking forward to Vannin again , and would love to see some of your cool van in person soon. ( maybe this spring or summer )

Nice! Congrats. That van is badass!!!

What's up with the fishtail exhaust? Did you borrow those from someone's full bagger Harley?

Yes it is a blast to drive .
Really want to figure out some kind of power steering for the old girl . and it will be be getting new bushings soon .
As far as the body , this thing is solid . the only body parts I am not happy with is the roof . why people why ????? Dose everybody want to cut up the roof . I had to install a new sunroof in the front and a patch panel in the rear . ( work in progress ). Leaving for a 700 mile round trip on Thrusday , really hope the old gal is up to it .
Thanks guys for all the great comments !

I am also very interested in that four wheel drive set up. If I were to build another van, it would be just like this one!

The axle came out of an 1980 ish Chevy k5 blazer . I think the springs may have as well . I will take pictures and gather more info after weather clears and I get off the road . needs new shocks and bushings.
Wheels in the rear are 15x10 and front is. 15x8 wraped in 28 " Mickey's. 305 transfer case turbo 350 trans and a gm crate 350 . intake and carb .
And its got this strange battery drain that I just can't seem to find . ( if I leave the battery switch on the alternator gets warm ) . any ideas ?
