by softesttouch Mon Oct 13, 2014 1:55 amtwo obvious areas of advanced rust......this one and, to a lesser degree, near the fuel tank spout. I KNOW these areas need to be cut out and replaced, but where do I dras the line between major and minor rust fixes?

The floor is rusting because the windshield is leaking and allowing water to go down there. Grind the rust scale away with a wire wheel and then if there is enough metal left, just pin holes, you can seal it with the fiberglass-infused body filler (duraglas). Same with the area near the gas filler. The gas filler rusts because of mud getting thrown off the tire and packing up inside there. Remove the filler snout and clean it real well up inside there. After repairing the rust, by either welding or duraglas, make sure to give it a nice coat of heavy paint inside.
