Patch panels ? Empty Patch panels ?

Post by Guest Tue Mar 10, 2009 6:16 pm

I have just started to build up my Econoline !!!! With lots of planning ,its time. My question , is there anywhere to get front floor panels? I have built them for other projects but was hoping to find pre-made panels.

    Thanks.

I doubt it, but I hope so... mine is swiss cheese!

I'm planning to make a template out of plywood to beat the ribs in the sheet metal. I noticed that there are "X"s depressed in the floor, which are perfectly rusted out... the perfect place for water to sit under the carpet! I'm going to beat them opposite, so the "X"s are raised on the floor.

Basically, I'll trace a template from paper to plywood and cut out all ribs from the plywood template... place the sheet on top and beat the ribs from above. Mine's bad almost from door-to-door, from about mid wheelwell to just beyond the angled portion below the headlights. A real basket case!

But I LOVE my Econoline THAT MUCH!

    Good luck!

Well guys. Only one thing to say.... Head to the JY and find any donor van and start cutting side panels and invest in a good wire welder and some good body tools..

They do make them but Im told they dont fit very well. Steve Dolan,Chief moderator of Oldeconolines Yahoo site can fill you in. He used them on his pickup. No idea where he got em though. I sell used parts but have no good floor panels presently.

No floors, but Surplus Supply show other exterior panels. I'm sure I bookmarked that place at one time...

I have a Lincoln Handy MIG 110V that will do the job.

Good idea on cutting any donor floor... it would surely be strong. My question... what's easier? I don't have access to power tools or torches in my local yards. So I might as well make my own.

Surplus Supply is a good place. I bought a bunch of A-100 panels from him in the past, but alas no floor panels.
