And it was a nice visit to be sure. Wish that the spring weather was even running near average temps though. And the funny thing was that I brought my camera and left it in the car, go figure. Scott...

Re: What are you up to?
I haven't been on much in several months since I've been working like a dog. Doing what I could to keep stable while the company was being purchased.
Well they decided on the 16th that they wouldn't need my skills.
So, sorry I haven't been on much, I hope to change that now. I miss combing the forum each night helping where I can, and learning from everyone else.
Until I can land another gig I have to start selling. I'm not letting go of my 68 GMC, but the 66 Chevy has to go. I'm taking her down to the local swap-meet this weekend.
Kinda nice, I put some fresh tires on her, put the carb. back on and put in a battery. She fired right up and drives up and down the street.
I'm cleaning out the garage and will be posting some stuff that I had socked away. I don't have much, but will have a few things people will want.
I figured this would be the best place to let y'all know what I've been up to..

Re: What are you up to?
That's a bummer Scott!!!!! Maybe something else will come along quick enough that you won't have to sell.

Re: What are you up to?
The 66 was always a future project, it's better that it finds a new home.
The wife and I are a few weeks from having the house on the market, and the kids are all moved out now.
We are selling the house and I'm looking for something anywhere in the States. At this point I don't know where we will end-up. Whatever happens I don't want to bring two vans with me. At the moment the one van keeps me busy.
Had the 68 out a few weeks ago, kinda racing the engine but backing off as I came into town and BAMB! I thought I hit something, glanced at the mirrors and nothing, looked at the dash and RED lights.
Coasted into a parking lot and couldn't start. Popped the oil cap and turned the key, rockers no longer move.
Tomorrow the timing cover comes off to check the gears.
That's what I mean about this one keeping me busy. There is way to much left I want to add to the 68, and my pockets aren't deep enough for two.
We are kinda looking at Atlanta, or the Carolinas, but anyplace that needs an IT guy is being considered. Well, anyplace but Texas. We want to try something new and we have way to much family here..

Re: What are you up to?
Spent a few days last week selling stuff at the local Swap-meet. Had a lot of lookers and interest in the 66 Chevy. The guy that bought her took her back to southern California. I made sure to place a Vintage-Vans.com sticker on her, and told him to check out the site. He was a little worried about finding parts so I told him this is the place to come.
Here's how she looked when she left..
His plan is to fix this up with his son. From what I gather he frequents the Pomona Swap-meet, so you So. Cal. guys keep your eyes open.

Re: What are you up to?
I popped that timing cover on my 68 and confirmed my suspicions.
My crank gear lost all its teeth, I found three in the timing cover and the rest are sitting in the Oil Pan. I sold my engine hoist to a friend but he is letting me hold it until I can get this worked out. I'm going to hold the engine up, drop the cradle and pan, clean it and replace the oil pump. Once that's done I can give my friend the hoist and finish the timing gears without it.

finally got the 90° oil filter adapter on my '66 falcon deluxe club wagon.
had to modify the old oil filter fitting to get it to work. my wife was not happy that her car had to sit outside since Saturday morning, oh well, $hit happens:)now I owe her a car wash, small price to pay:)
