I have looked everywhere that I can think to look, and can not find the length of the throttle cable for a V8. My truck never had one so I have nothing to reference. Can someone possible measure theirs or does someone have one laying around that they can measure? Thank you.

Dix, thank you very much. My truck had no linkage at all when I bought it. I am definitely going to go with a cable and now that I have a length to start with, I am probably going to buy a Lokar cable. I am finally home for my vacation and am also starting on the disk and power brake conversion. I sent my entire front axle to the sandblaster and should be able to pick it up tomorrow or Tuesday and get busy. Thank you again.

Re: Throttle cable length for a V8
I had one made from Pegasus Racing, cost about $80.
specs on my cable:
Pegasus Racing
1270-BASIC4-1-1032
Custom Throttle Cable with One 10/32 Stud End
Jacket Length: 84 (inches) Cable Length: 120 (inches) Approx. travel when straight is: 33.2 inches.
1270-INCH
Length Charge for Throttle Cables (per inch of Jacket)
1274
Quick Release Stud Type Ball Joint with 10-32 Threads
I used part number 1273, a yoke and pin set screw connector to connect it to the pedal linkage under the floor and cut off the excess braided wire. The yoke screws onto a set screw attached stud end, PN 1579-105
I used a "Holley type quick disconnect stud on the carb linkege.

Re: Throttle cable length for a V8
I have located a Lokar throttle cable for $67.00 that is 84" long and has a clevis on one end and a mounting stud on the carb end. It looks like it will fit just about perfect. Here is the link from Summit Racing.

I have just ordered this cable and a LOK-SRK4000 throttle cable bracket. I have no idea when I will be home again to work on the old truck, but I will post some pictures when I can and let everyone know how this cable fits.

Re: Throttle cable length for a V8
Let us know how it works out.
I just swapped /6s in my 108 and will need to change from a linkage to a cable due to the different carb.

Will do, Rod. Your cable, from what I understand, should be 63" for your leanin' tower of power. I looked and the only cable I could find was 60" thru Summit (part number TC-1000U60) but when I looked on Lokars site they said that they would cut custom lengths. The bad part is the price. I originally contacted Lokars customer service and they actually recommended Summit for their products because I could buy them much cheaper thru Summit than I could thru them. Go figure!
I will probably get to go home in a couple of weeks and will keep you all posted on the progress.

I guess I'm a cheapskate! I used a go kart cable, the Manco one shown here for $24.50. http://www.gokartsupply.com/thcable.htm

I wouldn't call that you a cheapskate at all. I have way more time than I need to browse, and did consider the Manco cables pretty seriously along with many others.
