Found my van finally, a 1967 Falcon Empty Found my van finally, a 1967 Falcon

Post by Skulptor Fri May 24, 2013 7:26 pm

Been searching everyday for about 4 months, looked at alot of vans and finally found a 67 Falcon a few hours away. Drove my motorcycle to take a look at it, bartered, then did few roadside repairs to get it running.. Then loaded up the bike in the back and made two hour trip back home with minimal issues! cheers In the last week of having it, iv driven it everyday and already put close to 600 miles on her! Loving it Very Happy
Iv been on the site for a little while bugging all you van vets with questions and opinions on vans ive seen for sale, and i much appreciate the help! Figured id introduce myself, and get some pics going in Members showcase.

Thanks for the 180 Big W!

Thanks, feels like I just got married or something haha

Just changed out the leaking rear output seal on the train, and changed out all the sloppy bushings in the shift linkage, and payed up all the backfees on the reg.. Feelin good, to bring new life this old boy!
Blinkers aren't working need to tackle that next, looks like it had backup lights and reflectors. Did the blinkers blink the brake light or the clear backup light light?

I believe the blinkers just blinked the brake light. Someone may correct me on that but I think the backup light was just a backup light.

Started poking around at the electrical and only see two wires going to the tail light, wouldnt that mean its just brake and tail? I can work metal like a wizard but when it comes to electrical im clueless Suspect

Brake light is also the signal as well. When you have your foot on brake, both sides light up until you hit the turn signal lever then what ever side you have it on should flash that side of the brake light. Tail lights look stock to me not frenched. That's just a cool feature of the econolines.Found my van finally, a 1967 Falcon Tail_l10

Tail lights are frenched. Look good. Below that is where the reflectors were. The Government required those. It was part of the government specs when the ordered them. Should have two heavy ground straps on the doghouse lid as well. Below that are the 67 only backup light. The DOT required all vehicles the have backup lights in 67.

Yea, I don't like the 67 backup lights either. Ugly. I plan on welding up the holes in my 67's when the time comes. I'd like to see a clearer picture of the taillights. It's hard to tell about the french job with the black paint. The different radius around the light make it hard to french and keep it looking smooth.

If you take a pic of your tail light, can you take one with out the red lens on. in one of your pics, I see a gap around the outside of the lens, and am wondering if someone didn't put a different light in from inside the body, and maybe they counter sunk it a bit. Thanks.

Thanks Dix. Plans right now are to slowly go through all the mechanical parts and get her more road worthy for longer trips.. FInd a 9" and get some better highway gears, she screams pretty good at 55-60mph. I want to lower it 3-4" for now, and maybe later on down the road do some suspension fab.
Trying to get my fiance interested in vanning and have her take interest in working the interior Very Happy We actually just took engagement photos with our van tonight! Ill post a pic when i get them from the photographer. As far as paint, ill try and work a trade deal. I dont have clean enough space (share horses in stalls in the shop) to shoot paint or id love to!

heres few better tail light pics

That's it, break her in real easy! Be gentle so you don't scare her away! If she takes interest and helps with the interior, it's a win, win!!! Hell, just the fact that she's willing to have engagement photos taken with the van says she's a keeper! You got a good one there...And the fiance's really good too! lol!

Thanks for posting the pictures. I was wrong again. That's stock as stock can be. Sure looked frenched in the other shot. I've never liked how the lense sticks out from the body like that. If it just had a little more depth to the opening so it shrouded the edge of the lense it would look so much better. Just looks like it doesn't fit this way.
