I got this document from a Corvair buddy. It lists some interesting info on the then brand new 1964 Chevy van. It is also very interesting how many parts were shared with the Corvair FC vans:

I like the recommendation to twist the doghouse cover chain clockwise to keep the chain from "folding outside and damaging the sheet metal when the cover is closed." Good little tip!

Ben, what shared parts do you know of between Corvairs and Chevy Vans? I've noticed quite a few. Mainly, are there any that you know of that are now being remanufactured?

Hi! Shared parts with the Earlies include at least steering wheels, horn buttons, dash clusters, glove box doors, door handles (exterior and interior and gaskets for such), vent window handles, turn signal levers, and interior window cranks. I bet there are many more parts that I am not connecting here and now.

I noticed the similarities several years ago when I was looking at a '65 Chevy van. The deal fell through, but it piqued my interest in the numerous carryover parts.

As far as parts availability- at least for used parts- try The Corvair Ranch in Gettysburg, PA. Jeff has over 100 Corvair trucks and vans (not to mention 500 cars- which, from 1960-1964 shared the same dash clusters and glove box doors) ripe for the picking. 717-624-2805 or corvairranch.com

Clark's Corvair parts stocks many repro parts for FCs (Corvair trucks/vans): http://www.corvair.com/user-cgi/main

I believe Clarks has replaced the door handle gaskets, door handles, vent window handles, and many other parts for the trucks.
