Handivan Drop Axle Empty Handivan Drop Axle

Post by Guest Fri Jan 16, 2009 1:16 am

Looking for a drop axle for my 69 handivan.
Does anyone make one for my van?
Will one fit off a chevy truck of similar year?

Anyone know if chevy truck spindles will fit on the van axle
that would tell me that a truck drop axle might work..

    How about drop spindles?

I dont really want to lower just in the leafs.. and I'm trying to stay away from blocks..

    Thanks yall!

    My goal...

Aren't those solid axles on the front? I don't know early chevs, but my A100 and E100 are like that. Axles are heated and bent to move the spnidle mounts up, but not recommended. Seen a couple good bagged setups where leafs were removed from the stacks, in the Econoline sections... I'm sure some of the Chevy guys will chime in, but I don't think it's common to use a dropped axle. And Welcome!

    good luck with the lowering....
i had a friend lower his '66 by flipping the axle front and rear and got his almost as low as the picture you posted but it was a lot of work to get all the "kinks' worked out. i think it rides fine but nothing like the stock setup with good equipment.
and lastly, i hope you find what you are looking for to lower yours because it seems like there are a lot of guys who thought about doing the same thing and are still wondering...
but the question gets brought up at least twice a year on message boards and besides searchin the archives, nothing much ever comes of it.
they do look cool lowered in photoshop pictures though.
    good luck.

    Hi *james*

Nice photo, can I assume by looking at this photo that van on the left has 15" rims mounted on 60's series tires, they seem to tuck-in nicely & has that really great lowered look! Cheers! Cool
