interesting… donnivan65, looks like you resized the pic to better fit the frame, but the pics have different shades of glacier blue… no? did you change the hue as well?

Alright!!!! Whats next on the list? When I was over there helping take the radiator out, I hit a switch that was in the hole where the choke knob goes,,,,the van was in 1st gear and jumped forward, since that is the starter switch now,,,,,I could of killed Scott if he was in front of the tires,,,,,

Well, my friend got busted painting the van at our shop and so, I have to button it all up myself. There are some drips that need to be wetsanded, wiring needs to be ran to the back, mirrors and bumpers need to be re-installed and a good vacuuming.

The last time I tried to start the Van, the battery was dead, so I need to figure out if it needs to be charged, replaced or has some sort of draw killing it (brake lights?). At any rate, I am sure I can get a jump at the shop and get it home...any help on diagnosing this would be greatly appreciated.

Also, it is a good time to try to straighten out the bumper...what is the right way to do this?

Then its, a tune-up/oil change, new electric ignition, a choke, either re-upholstered seats or replacements, need a new air cleaner cover, re-panel the inside walls, new stereo to jam some Black Sabbath!, new glove box liner, insulate the doghouse, interior surf racks, blah, blah, blah, money, money, money!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the offer DoniVan. I do have a winshield in it now and I am certain I can get it started and home. I can probably use your help with some of the other projects. I will keep you posted. Again, thanks for the kind offer!

charge the batt - a long time - get running & then look for a current draw on the positive post of the alternator!! disconnect it & see if it sparks a little?? If does - replavce the alternator - its the diode trio thats bad =discharging the battery!!

Ok,,,,,,Surfer guy Scott says it won't start so I have him grab the coil wire then crank the engine and see what happens,,,,he yelled so I know he had spark,,,but he says he will come home for lunch and we can check it out,,,,I followed the green coolant trail from his work in Lakeside to the Blue Glacier Van in La Mesa, California,,,,I pressure tested the cooling system and it held pretty good,,,,,compression was a different story,,,,,four zeros, a 35 and a 120,,,,,so we tore it down looking for holes in the pistons or damaged valves,,,,but they looked looked good,,,so now he can clean it up and if that head is pretty flat, we will put another head gasket on it,,,,,here is a video of Lunch at the Surfer Guys house,,,,,he did bring me a Southside Chicago Roast Beef sub sandwich to keep me interested.........
