I have a 1961 Econoline Pickup that I need to know what the factory transmision is. It is a 3 speed column shift and as far as I can tell it is the original. I need a seal for the rear output shaft.

1961-1962 used the light duty HEF-A transmission often referred to as the "crash box." The access cover was on the side.
From 1963-1967 they used the heavy duty HEF 3.03 transmission. The access cover is on the top.

A 1963-1964 trans is much better than the 1961-1962 and should bolt right up to your engine and frame.

The 1961 transmission should have 1U3B or 1U3C marking on the side of the case, and as I said, it has the side cover.

According to the Ford Truck Parts Catalog, on your 1961, the output shaft oil seal is A2TZ 7052-A (2.378: O.D., 1.5" I.D., 0.75" thick)
