    Seat Brackets Empty Seat Brackets

    Post by K-Noods68 Wed Jul 09, 2014 9:10 pm

I bought a 1968 108, and the front seats were infested with ants. My dad tossed the seats while I was out of town, but forgot to keep the brackets. I have aftermarket seats, but they won't bolt down on the wheel well side.

Does anyone have an extra set for the driver and passenger seats?

Does anyone have any tips for fabricating new mounts, or is there a website or company that I can order some from?

    Thanks in advance!

It stands for Ocean View, VA. Ocean View is a section of Norfolk, VA, but mostly considers itself as its own city.

Original van brackets are damn hard to find, so I wish you luck.  With aftermarket seats, even if you had the original brackets, it is unlikely they would work, so you're pretty much stuck making your own brackets anyway since you have non-stock seats. Get some angle iron and get busy.   Very Happy

    Joe Van,

I have those smaller brackets on the passenger side of the doghouse. Did you fabricate them, and is the top bracket for the wheel well side?

I had the outside brackets from the old seats..!!!. But they would not be hard to make for the wheel well side.... the two brackets I made looked like the top one before I started... and that design you can spin them around to fit perfect..I just used some old ford conversion van rear bench seat hold down brackets and alot of bending but you can get some straight stock and bend it in a vise to make yours... Very Happy                                                                                                       Seat Brackets 105_1067                                           Seat Brackets 105_1068                                    Seat Brackets 105_0924                                                                                       The seat on the Right is the stock 1966 seat for my Van the one on the Left is a Rugged Trail seat from a Jeep...

Are those Jeep seats that you are running? I just tried to fit my aftermarket racing bucket seats, and the little shoulder hips are super tight against the sidewall. I may need to find something a little more narrow backed.

    I really appreciate your help.

These are tight on the right side I had to take off the right adjusting knob on the right seat to clear the motor box lid (There is knobs on both sides}.. They are 19 1/2 inches wide at the seat and 19 inches wide on the Back..I have seen them cheaper if you shop around http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rgg-1340201

great cloth seats and only 19" wide, no clearance issues on either side. You have to make brackets from angle and flat stock, a big vise and big hammer, unless you have access to a bending brake~
