Rust-oleum self etching primer on dog house?

Post by vanbeach66 on Wed Sep 15, 2010 1:45 pm

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding the dog house. I just finished cleaning and sanding the doghouse hood on my 66 g10 and wanted to know if It was ok to use rust-oleum self etching primer on the bare metal? Has anyone else used it on there dog house? Also is this a good idea or should I be using something else? All suggestions welcome thanks.

I would think that since the doghouse gets a lot of traffic on it, an epoxy primer would hold up better to the scratches it is definately going to get,,,,,,

I used DP-40 two part epoxy primer. You can throw cylinder heads at it all day long. Its bullit proof. epoxy primer will "seal" after 24 hours drying so it dosn't need to be painted over like one part primers. But you do have to sand it before painting unless painted within a couple hours of application.

Are you set up with a compressor and spray gun to spray a 2 part paint?
