Holly 4 bbl carb ??? Empty Holly 4 bbl carb ???

Post by gkpost Sat Jun 06, 2015 2:39 pm

I put a holly 390 on my 250 inline 6. I had to lower the motor and all that .
So my question is what the hell am I supposed to use for an air filter/cleaner?
Do I have to make one? Is there some k&n kit that can be retrofitted?
someone has done this and I could use a little help. Thanks for any input.

Maybe a 4 in single plenum(865-9849) to 4 in flex ducting(865-9751) to 4 in intake filter(865-9732) Jeggs part numbers

A "bonnet" and a tube to a K&N type filter might do the trick if there is room for it.

This was an EL Cheapo made in messico but I have seen some brand name types that do the same thing and maybe better fit..

Are you using a carb spacer? Mine had one in place which we removed and we are now looking for something that will allow a nice, fat filter to go in place.

The previous owner had just crunched down a larger filter to make it fit. Nothing good about that. I couldn't find the right size filter previously and I'm looking for the right thing to clear as well and still give me a tall filter at the same time.

I have a dropped down motor as well and 2nd Gen doghouse.

I do have a carb spacer, I need that to rotate the carb 90 degrees for my throttle. I've got plenty of room on top , but only 1/4 inch to one side. I'm love'n that tube to a bonnet set up.
what is that tube? Is that a k&n product?

Look up spectre products. They are pricey. Check eBay for dodge truck cold air intake. Believe I only paid 16$ for base kit. The angles from Spectre cost much more.
