Need help finding an Old Gm paint color.

Post by Donn on Mon Apr 19, 2010 7:08 pm

Maybe you GM guys can help me. I am trying to find a GM color from 1970. I have been looking on the net but no luck. I am looking for the same color I had on my old z/28.
1970 Z/28 Gold- ( same color as the "Papa John" comercial)

Want to paint my Econoline the same color but don't know much on how to find the correct name / GM code?

I think GM used it until at least '72

    thx

Hey Donn, pretty funny you decided on Gold ,thats what I am going with also. I am going with either the honey gold (64 ford mustang color) or a Gold I saw on a 69 nova at Captree a few sundays ago.So far I have been told it is riverside gold or medium gold poly but I am not sure thats right. My buddy works for KEMPERLE and he is checking on it for me. I will let you know what he comes up with. I had both colors on cars in the past but never cared what it was called then.

For some reason , the auto parts stores around here dont have anything past the 80's for paint codes. if the manufacturer doesnt supply the info they are lost. I searched online for the year and manufacturer,,maybe this will help.

I saw that chart on line but not sure if the color I am looking for is there.
I checked out many "sites" but no luck.
I guess I would like to see the camaro advertised with all stats including the paint gm name.
    Mike,
It's between gold and a light yellow (maybe 68 camaro yellow)
I saw a very nice yellow in the member's gallery on a van (vango) I think?
Not sure if the guy is still active here?
Maybe I should email PaPa John and ask him?

G-Man, by the way your yellow is the shade I am also interested in.
Sort of a mellow yellow, not sreaming yellow..
