I was looking up info on a friend's old oat motor and came across this video. Towards the end they claim that the GM 1 wire alternators don't start charging until the motor gets up to around 1,200 RPM. Is that true?

Well the 3 wire GM alternators use the wire from the idiot light to turn them on,,,,,,,,or a resistor to that #1 terminal to turn the voltage regular on,,,,,,,

All 1-wire alternators are junk. Stay with the 3-wire units. Brad
