Post by kgdb Sat Feb 06, 2010 4:59 pm

I posted several of these but I think they are scattered around so I figured I would post some up in order. I have been building cars, rods and bikes for over 30 yrs and also had a soft spot for the econo trucks, this summer I finally stumbled across one here and the fun began. It was pretty rough but we just dont see these much around here so I had to grab what I could find. Have a look at some of the progress so far.......

other then the fill stripe at the bottom shortening of the tailgate and adding the hinges how much rework did the gate need to fit.

Thanks guys, the gate was a fair bit of work, constantly fitting etc. The hardest part (and that wasn't to hard) was shortening it, I had to section several inches off each end and then re flange the outer. As far as the height , that was easy as I also fabricated my own roll pan so I was able to set the height of the gate anywhere I wanted. All in all though it was several hours of tinkering but worth the effort I think.

Thanks. I then had to remove the outer skins from the pieces that were cut off and then weld the inners back onto the gate.

Well had a few free hours today so I worked on the power brakes, got the booster assembly all mounted. Just have to pick up a proportioning valve and make up some brake lines and the brakes should be good to go.

I finally stopped procrastinating and realizing no one else would do the bodywork (my kid is also a body tech but waaaay to busy for Dad's projects) LOL so I got busy and finished up the last of the serious bodywork. You can see I was so happy to have this done I popped a wheelie !!!

Decided to mock up this heater assembly today, it is a MagicAir unit from a 1950 Ford coupe. I didnt like the cumbersome and ugly unit that the 67 had and thought this would give a nice look, vintage flare. It will be a easy install, here it is just mocked up in place to see what it looks like.
