Re: Buick 350 engine questions
This one is 280hp 10.25-1 without doing any tweaking, most of the chevy stuff I have found they want to much for or is the low HP crap that you have to sink a bunch of bucks into.

Re: Buick 350 engine questions
My 75 Pontiac Ventura (1st car) had a Buick 350 in it. Was during the period where the GM companies had to cut back, so Buick was manufacturing engines for the different lines. Well built. Only difference I remember was the distributor was at the front of the engine rather than the rear. I wonder how closely related the Buick and Olds engines are... what were those engines called? Rockets?

Re: Buick 350 engine questions
yeah olds engines were rockets, and I like the idea of having the distributor in the front for a change where it will be easier to work on.

Re: Buick 350 engine questions
well being a 68 it should have a bunch of torque, if you plan on a cam change whatch the torque range. gaining a few hp at the loss of the low rpm torque is a bad idea. also remember these engines dont like high rpms try and keep it under 5500

Re: Buick 350 engine questions
Buick 350's are great motors and if you leave it stock you'll be good, but if your son wants to dress it up intakes and things like that will cost more.

Re: Buick 350 engine questions
Gman.. you hit it on the nose... the 4bbl intake was 350. I'm going to bring the old 2 bbl intake to milford in june with some other small stuff from the parts vans. Not going to add anything else to the motor as 300 hp should make the El camino move pretty good.

Re: Buick 350 engine questions
They are good engines- yes = not for really high RPM's and there wasnt a great Amount of speed equip . for them as were chevys & fords. Should work well 4 ya.
