I did some calling and found out that State Spring Service in Grand rapids MI. still has prints for making springs for my 65. sounds like 650$ will get all four, a 6 and 7 leaf combination for stock. Their number is 1-800-727-8729.
Now, if I can get time to get there!
Moe,
Ya never know. After all these are for a 1st Gen. Only made them for a few years as well. Give Jim a call at State Spring......

Re: Leaf Spring Source
OK, New spring are in. Rides awsome.
Did learn a few things in the process. The pass side front spring that was sagging was not the right spring
Turns out it had been replaced at one point and with a softer and lesser rated spring. That was what caused the sagging. Shackle bolts came out very easy like they had just been installed yesterday, everything was in great shape too. And since I was going to replace the front ones I just had to replace the rears too. Took about 40 min and 2 beers per spring with no issues at all !!!
So, what I have now is 1 very good front spring and 2 almost perfect rear springs if anyone has interest before they hit eBay. Let me know.

Re: Leaf Spring Source
She sits really nice too. This is after a 5 mile road test to let them settle. This is "Without" using the Airshocks.....

Here's the ends of the old front springs. You can see the size different size!!

And here's the old rear springs. In very good condition....

Re: Leaf Spring Source
I think those different sized front springs are normal to compensate for the drivers weight and the offset of the engine,,,,,,,,,I have seen that set up on several vans,,,,,,,,

Re: Leaf Spring Source
Maybe but it was causing the front pass side to sag real bad. Either way I'm new all the way around and have one and two good rears as spares. Sure someone will need them sooner or later.

Re: Leaf Spring Source
I guess the springs sag if they always carry a heavy load or they have a lot of miles on them from flexing a lot on rough roads. But there sure is a market for those springs for someone looking to lower their ride,,,,,,So when they are off, side by side, can you notice if they have the same arc?

Re: Leaf Spring Source
This one was replace with an incorrect spring. They have the same arc but the replacement one has a lesser load rating and sagged under the add'l weight. No biggie, done deal and she's riding high and level now. Ready for the 15" centerlines and all this brake and disc conversion stuff I've been collecting.

Re: Leaf Spring Source
My original front springs were mismatched as well as the CrashVan,,,,,so they come on some vans that way,,,,,,here is the 1964 specs,,,,,I think 5 leafs are standard, 6 are heavy duty and I have no idea what the LESSER LOAD RATING that Dan keeps talking about. I would like to be able to tell if a spring is good by looking at it before putting it on and see if it sags,,,,,,

Re: Leaf Spring Source
I only have 8 1st gen. axles left here and the larger spring eye on the passenger side is normal from the factory. I had some break over the years and I just got another one from the junkyard.

I did subject them to some strain sometimes

This wasn't the issue on mine. This pass side had a much lighter spring, smaller ring size and thinner leafs. Someone just simply replace it at some point with what I can only figure is a car spring. They may have put many different springs in our vans over the years but this one was not a van spring and that was the problem.
No matter, all new springs now and she's riding high and level.
Don, I would like to be able to tell if a spring is good by looking at it too.... But looking at this spring once it was out you could tell it wasn't right.
