So I took a look at this situation here. I have to repair the outer sheetmetal, as it got chewed up and a couple tears / cracks. Also figured out that there is a bracket that the wiper motor bolts to also extends along the skin of the van to support the wiper arm mounts too... I thought they just secured against the outer skin. Anyway, the passenger-side of this bracket is broken off at the hole where the wiper linkage secures to. So I have to get one out of my donor as well as a small ...

This is what I found when I was investigating why the engine had such noisy lifters.

This is what I've done:

1) removed, carb-cleaner-bathed, blew out with compressed air the rockers, pushrods and lifters.

2) removed as much sludge from rocker valley with carb cleaner, brushes and rags.

3) reassembled and ran engine with flush.

I found that I had one badly worn rocker pivot, and was able to get one from the salvage yard. Trying to figure out the zero-lash thing gradually, ...

1) demondog, I don't suppose you have one out there...

2) next possibility is that a rad shop could cut down my 61-64 core (end caps look like they are the same size as 65-67 end caps, but core is a few inches wider) to recore my heater core

Hello,

My dad has a '64 Falcon Van with the original floor box heater. A couple of years ago I found and NOS heater valve and it's installed. I recently had the heater core flushed, checked for leaks and repaired by a great radiator shop. Hot water is getting to the valve but will not go through. I disconnected the valve and flushed cold water through the core but hot antifreeze will not go through. The core doesn't get warm at all.

I installed a rear heater and it is working great ...

Hi all,

I recently installed an Offenhauser DP intake manifold and a Barry Grant 525 street demon on my 300 and am now trying to figure

out the throttle cable problem.

The primaries are facing the engine so the carb has to be mounted sideways. Which makes it a little different for the throttle

cable, since it has to pull from the passenger side outside the doghouse (see red arrow).

I've played with the cable a little and it doesn't seem to reach the carb by routing it underneath ...

I have a 300 in my econoline. Will a 200 or 170 bolt right up to the same 3 speed tranny? Can I also use the same driveshaft? ( I have a 9 inch rear axle BTW and the cross brace like 65 up vans)). Seems it should be a simple swap and only need to change engine mounts ( which I can fab up any way I wish).

True or not? Am I missing anything?

I'm more concerned with gas mileage than power. After driving around the last couple weeks I feel the 300 is over kill in my van..... for my uses.

Hey guys... I recently bought an ADDCO rear sway bar for the 65,, and was going to install it last night but ran into a problem... The sway bar they sent me looks like it's too wide to attach to the frame rails. On the early vans, the rear sway bar attaches along the rear axle, and the end links attach to the frame rails.
Hey dose anyone have any advice on replacing the rear main seal? My shop manual says that the bottom is "eaisly replaced" but to replace the upper half one must remove the crank shaft. What I would like to know if there is a way around this.

I'm just pondering a problem and want some imput.

On my 64 Econoline, the doghouse was sealed to the floor, all the holes were filled, or caulked before putting the nuts and bolts in. I've installed new weather stripping, on the top of the base and on the bottom side of the top cover. The latch pulls the cover down so that it squeezes the rubber together nicely. The exhaust system is tight and has no leaks.

If I drive with the windows closed, or even with the front vent open, I have ...

I've been having problems with my econo's points. So last week I had O'Reilly Auto Parts order a pettronics conversion unit. I put it in friday night, on a difficulty level of 1 - 10 I would have to say this was only a 1. Very easy to install, I put about 150 miles on the van this weekend, up to the lakehouse and back. It ran soooo good!
