The problem is assosiated with the TCC but is some what deeper then the basic control perifials, although the TCC should have nothing to do with gear shifting times as that is a hydraulic funtion. The 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 shift timing all changes back to normal when I disconect the TCC wiring. With the TCC connected it will shift 1-2-3-4 and then engage the TCC as low as 20 MPH and then you have to beet on it to get it to down shift, Its killing ... My 1988 700R4 wont shift right. Its a 1988 TPI V8 /700R4 with the original computer and wireing all put into my 65 Van. It upshifts way too early including the TCC lock up. I adjusted the kick down cable, It now takes longer to make the 1-2 shift but then almost emediatly makes the 2-3 shift and then TCC lock up all too soon. Have the I6 (230 or 250) and it has a PCV valve on one end (rear) and an open breather cap on the front. Well, the PCV cannot keep up with the crankcase pressure and smoke billows out of the breather and of course come in the cab. The only thing I need is the front wheel cylinders. I purchased the rear ones from Advanced Auto Parts for 10 bucks a piece. I looked into getting the front ones and they are 30 some bucks a piece. Ok, the front brakes do most of the work, they probably cost more. Well I was looking up some part numbers for another member who has a 66, when I noticed That the fronts were only 15 bucks, but the backs were 45. What the hell? There seems ... I replaced my starter, battery, cables and alternator. Van runs like a champ...until it gets good and warmed up and I turn it off. then it doesn't want to start....or even make any sounds like the starter is even getting the message. It happened again today, at the gas station. I pumped the gas and hopped back in...nothing. There's power at the switch...lights, gauges, etc. Just no start up action at all. I sat there and let it get cooled down ... I saw a cool dual shock set up in a pic Don posted from the Avenger. I have only bumped mine up about 4". but the stock shocks are maxed out at that hieght and what I have tried so far are enough larger in diameter they have a clearence issue with the sway bar linkage. Has anybody come up with an easy to make drop bracket set up? So here is the question.....where does the rotor point on a chevy 6 at TDC? It doesnt make any difference on the vacume pot or cap index does it? The passenger side assembled with no problems, but was a bit tight. I then tried to assemble the driver's side, and there was NO way it would fit, as it was way too tight! I measure the rotor thickness at @ 1" and a shade under 1/16th inch? Maybe I should check for different thicknesses of pads??? I ordered the calipers from CPP out of Cali and they are for a 85 Caddy! Rotors from NAPA are listed for a 85 Caddy ... Two "small issues" I could use some input on before I dive into them. 1- fuel gauge is stuck at the 1/2 way mark. Is it likely the gauge is stuck or bad or the sender just stuck? The needle does move "slightly" but not much. I think a bad ground would make this gauge top out past the full mark. 2- It's been years & years since I used a power-glide ... I removed my rear bumper yesterday from my 66 to clean it up and it needs a couple small patches. Are the bumpers Galvinized or anything? Anybody suggest what guage metal to use?
